  • Frequency: The VFX course runs every fall semester

  • ECTS points: The course content is equal to 30 ECTS points
  • Fee: 2.950 EUR (22.000 DKK), not including accommodation or living expenses
  • Scholarships: The Animation Workshop offers accommodation and/or travel scholarships to eligible course applicants. Read more under "economy".

    What you will learn

    The VFX course is designed to equip highly creative and driven computer graphics professionals with the knowledge and skills to create photorealistic computer graphics and integrate them seamlessly with live action footage. This will range from set extensions through vehicles to body part replacements and simulations.

    Participants will work within the industry standards for software and camera equipment. All teachers will be recognized visiting industry experts.

    Each week of the training activity will consist of artistic and technical lectures, film and game analysis, numerous and intense assignments, group critiques, evaluations, one on one critiques, tutoring and production simulation.

    At the end of the course, participants will have the opportunity to develop their show reels under the supervision of their guest teacher, and they will then be ready to start to work immediately as VFX generalists for film or animation studios.

    Admission and Requirements

    The VFX course is designed for and open to CG, compositing and VFX artists. Applicants should have a solid generalist background in modeling, texturing, lighting/shading and compositing, since all classes will cover advanced topics.

    To apply for the VFX course, please fill out the online application form available through the link on the right side of this page. You will be asked to submit a CV, motivation letter, portfolio/demo reel and track record etc. See the application deadline above.

    Submitting an application to the course is not binding. In the event of a successful application to the course, you will be asked to confirm your seat as soon as possible afterwards.

    The VFX course is supported by the Creative Europe/MEDIA Programme of the EU. As a result, the course is primarily offered to EU-citizens. We are only allowed to take in a small percentage of participants from non-EU countries.

    Info for non-EU applicants

    Please be aware that the VFX course is currently offered as a single-subject course, which under the current Danish immigration laws does not warrant a residence permit under “higher educational programmes” for course participants. You can find further information about visas and residence permits on the official portal for foreigners.
