

The Computer Game Zone
The computer game zone is one out of several government initiatives to strengthen the culture and experience economy in Denmark. During the next three years a total of 9,2 million DKK has been granted to the zone, which is run by a consortium, among others consisting of The Animation Workshop, with the Danish Producers Association (Producentforeningen) as project holder.
The objective with the computer game zone is to create a common platform for the Danish computer game business and to make Denmark the Nordic hotspot for national and international game development.
The experience zone for computer games has the following focus areas:
• Education: Charting and communication of international courses and educations, identification of business demands, development of professional continuing education programmes, and development of business development courses.
• Business development: Counselling and competency development for newly started businesses, among other things by sharing knowledge of the value chain concept for the computer game industry and its business models, and by networking with national and international investor environments.
• Funding: Bridge-building between companies and investor environments through communication of knowledge about the value chain concept for the computer game industry and its business models, and networking with national and international investor environments.
• Internationalisation: Strengthened internationalisation through gathering and communication of international market data. Charting and contact to international network. Work for improved framework conditions and practical conditions in connection with attracting international labour and international companies.
• Foundation: Foundation of industry and strengthening of existing regional, national and international network, along with development of new ones. Identification of good practice for companies, subsidy schemes, and framework conditions.
• Communication: Strive for heightening awareness of computer games among consumers, politicians, and other interested parties. Distribution of existing Danish and international initiatives.
