Erik Schmidt

Erik Schmidt
Erik Schmidt entered the world of animation quite unexpectedly; initially he aspired to become an architect but an unexpected twist of fate landed him a job in an animation studio as a placeholder before he could begin his studies. Little did he know that this opportunity would turn out to become a fully fledged career, spanning over 13 prestigious feature film productions, including The Prince of Egypt and Spirit, Stallion of the Cimaron for Dreamworks and Disney’s Bolt.

Having worked in both 2D and 3D environments at the highest level, Erik brings a broad range of skills to his teaching, along with a solid overview and insight into the animation industry as it is today. He is also an avid runner and builds guitars on a part time basis.

Erik has been a regular teacher at The Animation Workshop since 2009.
