Oscar nominated animation studio
Together with three of his class mates, Jesper A. Jensen’s is going to the young but highly coveted animation studio Cartoon Saloon which received an Oscar nomination for their animation hit The Secret of Kells earlier this year. The studio is situated in Ireland and works with a wide array of animation genres and styles.
“I’m looking forward to testing my abilities in a professional work environment. For three years, we’ve primarily compared our skills to our class mates so it’s going to be interesting to see where my level is compared to the professionals,” says Jesper, who also hopes to strengthen his network with a view towards his coming career.
Visual effects for Avatar
The animation studio Framestore in England creates visual effects for the big blockbusters. They worked on the Oscar-winning Avatar and also created the effects to the Harry Potter movies. Naturally, the studio is high on the wish list for the character animators in Viborg. Two students have secured internships at Framestore. One of them is Benjamin Kousholt who has high expectations for his internship.
“It has long been a goal of mine to have my internship at Framestore, because there’s room for both taking part in exciting and varied projects and for boosting my career,” says Benjamin.
Thailand calling
The Monk Studio in Thailand has several times had interns from The Animation Workshop and this year two students travel to the far away studio. Director and animator Salvador Simó from The Monk Studio says about working with the young animators:
“The interns from The Animation Workshop are always well prepared and ready to use their great talents. They work hard and make a difference – especially since they are able to look at the projects through fresh eyes, also when we have a very tight deadline to meet.”
The internships take 4 to 6 months and are the final step for the Character Animators before graduation.
