Nordic and EU/EEACitizens
If you are a Nordic citizen, you are free to reside, study and work in Denmark. If you are an EU/EEA citizen or Swiss citizen seeking residence in Denmark based on the EU rules on freedom of movement, you may be subject to special regulations. More information about EU/EEA and Nordic citizens.
Citizens outside EU/EEA
If you study in Denmark for more than 6 months you will need a recidence permit. In order to be granted a residence permit you must document:
That you have been admitted to a higher educational programme which has been approved by a state authority or which is offered by a publicly accredited educational institution.
That you can support yourself with your own means for the duration of your stay in Denmark. If you are to pay a tuition fee, you must document that you have paid the tuition fee for the first semester or year, instead of documenting that you can support yourself. Please note that a foreign student in Denmark may not receive public assistance/benefit payments. If you do so, your residence permit can be revoked.
That you can speak and understand the language of instruction and have a working knowledge of either Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, English or German.
Your participation in the educational programme must have been arranged by a ministry or institution of higher learning, or the educational programme must be part of a higher educational programme which you have already commenced in your country of origin. In other words, you may be granted a residence permit either in order to complete an entire educational programme or in order to follow part of a programme as a guest student.

Health insurance
According to the paragraph regarding public healt insurance, § 1 stk. 3, people coming to Denmark is obligated to buy health insurance the first 6 weeks of their stay in Denmark.
People coming from The Faroe Islands or Greenland are not included and have the rights for health insurance immediately after their settlement.
As a student at The Animation Workshop you will have to stay in Denmark for more than a year.
You must send in copies of documentation that you are to become a student at the school and apply for a registration at the National Register of Persons. This will guarantee free health insurance at your stay after the first 6 weeks.

Cost of living and studying in Denmark
EUR 1 = approximately DKK 7.50.
USD ($) 1 = approximately DKK 5.75.
£1 = DKK 10.90.
