Game Animation
16 week course, Fall 2011
Now is your chance to get professional training in game animation, thereby expanding your opportunities on the job market.
Demand for game animation skills is increasing all the time. Working as an animator on a computer game is different from working on classic film animation in many ways. The game animator needs a basic insight into the pipeline of computer game production. Furthermore, the animator must be able to communicate with both the director and the programmers in order to create high standard and fully functional game animation.
DADIU 2.0
The Danish Academy for Digital, Interactive Entertainment (DADIU) is an association of nine master educations and five art schools in Denmark. By focusing on skills relevant to computer games animation, DADIU aims to educate professionals for the computer game industry, thereby raising the general level of talent.
Now, DADIU offers a new and more comprehensive computer game education for different study programs.
Experience with game production
In addition to theory and class lectures, you will acquire hands on experience with computer game animation through two game projects, a mini game project and a student game project. You will take on the role of game animator, collaborating closely with the director and programmer. Together, you will create a finished and fully functional game. In between the two game production projects is a four week project focusing more on animation.

Participants
Each student fulfills a specific function on a game development team. As game animator you will have lectures together with students from other educational backgrounds and thereby build up an understanding of all the different work processes that go into the creation of a computer game. The participants will be divided into six groups, each consisting of approximately 15 students including a game director, a project manager, a game designer, programmers and animators.
Evaluation
The final part of your training is the evaluation that functions as a follow up on all of the subjects you’ve had. Your student game will be evaluated by professionals from the computer game business, who will point out strengths and weaknesses in your game. Furthermore, your team’s work process will be evaluated and you will learn more about your own characteristics when working as part of a team.
