Animation as a Learning Tool
This module is designed for international students who wish to study in Denmark and who wish to use animation as a pedagogical tool in their daily professional work with children and youngsters.
International Module in Animation as a Learning Tool is a cooperation with Pædagoguddannelsen in Viborg (the Bachelor degree in Social Education in Viborg), VIA University Collage and The Animation Workshop. In this module, the students learn what animation can be used for in a pedagogical context. At the same time, they will learn how to make animation themselves and how to involve kids, youngsters and others in the creation of animation. The module is designed for international students who wish to study in Denmark and who wish to use animation as a pedagogical tool in their daily professional work with children and youngsters. The module corresponds to 30 ECTS points.

Purpose
The aim of the course is:
- to investigate the possibility of using animation as a learning method to develop the skills and qualifications of kids and youngsters.
- to acquire skills within the use of ICT/multimedia in relation to pedagogical learning.
- to develop an understanding of aesthetics, alternative learning methods and didactics.
- to learn how to work in groups and develop personal and professional competences.
- to acquire basic animation skills and learn the process behind a film.
- to gain experience in using animation pedagogically through field work – observations, interviews, collection of data and analysis.
- to expand the theoretical knowledge within alternative approaches to education and learning, and to understand these in comparison to the more traditional approaches.
